Holmer Park Health Club & Spa continues to invest for our members, as hopefully our brand new website demonstrates! Fitness tech improvements, such as the Mywellness Cloud system, and timetable expansion are further proof. We offer a massive range of fitness classes, including Zumba, which is today’s theme.

When it comes to having fun while losing weight, Zumba is perhaps the best opportunity out there! If you’re not into Spinning but are looking for a fitness class in Hereford that’s a lot more exciting than a walk in the park, it’s time to come to Zumba!

What is Zumba exactly?

You’ve probably already heard about Zumba and perhaps even tried a class at Holmer Park. With more than 1.2 million people doing Zumba in the UK, this South American dance fitness programme is clearly here to stay.[i] Some fitness fads come and go but we foresee Zumba being on the Holmer Park timetable for many years. But what is it and why is it so popular?

Zumba is a Columbian-influenced dance class blended with other international styles such as Bollywood.[ii] Depending on how much you weight and how hard you push yourself, you can burn between 430 and 1145 calories in one of our hour-long Zumba classes![iii]

Because it mixes dance moves with traditional exercises such as and squatting, chances are you won’t even notice that you’re getting a workout! Furthermore, Zumba helps strengthen your core and improves coordination, which is very important for people as they get older.

You don’t have to be an amazing dancer, we should stress! Zumba isn’t about being the next Strictly! contestant, or being able to follow the instructor move-for-move. It’s about keeping a rhythm that you’re happy and enjoying yourself. And of course the more Zumba classes you attend, the better you will get anyway.

The social scene

Ditch the workout and join the party! Zumba is described as one big party, so it’s the perfect opportunity to make new friends in Hereford. As we like saying, Holmer Park is not a gym – we are a club. Whether you come to see us on your own or with a friend, by the end of the class you’re going to be laughing along with people who were strangers at the beginning.
