Holmer's Headlines June 2020

30 Jun 2020

Hello and welcome to the June edition of Holmer's Headlines.

Although last week’s government announcement sadly means we will not be opening on the 4th July I do hope you are able to continue keeping active and like so many of our Holmer Park family are really looking forward to returning to the club.

In the words of a song we are all familiar with by the late Dame Vera Lynn, although we absolutely “know where”, “we will meet again”, but “don’t know when”, just quite yet. Please do however think back to your old routines and remember your lovely swim, classes with our great instructors and coffee in the lounge. Holmer Park is a beautiful club and we are all desperately excited to welcome you back as soon as it is safe to do so.

This past week I was flicking though the pictures on our Facebook page and in the 5 years+ I have worked at Holmer Park we really have had some great times. From BBQs to parties and sing a longs to Mexican nights myself and the team really have and do enjoy spending time with you all. Over the next week or so we will be re-sharing some of these great times so do visit our Facebook page, have a look and leave us a comment; we’d love to hear from you!

As I am sure you would expect, we have been busy at the club in preparation for your return. We have this week finished the full refurbishment of the Sauna. It looks great and I am really thankful to Paul at Badham and Sons Builders for the work they have done. They have also finished installing new handrails on all of our staircases in the gym and will be repairing tiling and re applying silicone in the pool hall.

Working with Martin at MG Electrical we have also carried out a full refurbishment of our electrical supplies to the pool hall and changing rooms as well as carrying out electrical testing to ensure that when we are able to open your visit will not be disrupted.

Will and the team at Three Counites Pools have also been carrying out repairs in the swimming pool plant room.

Working with local contactors has always been a key part of our operation and I am so thankful to all of our partners throughout this time. Supporting local will be more important than ever and I am proud to say that we are very much a “buy local” business and are proud of our Herefordshire roots.

Finally something I am really excited to share with you is that we will be shortly starting stage 1 of our spa garden build. This stage will involve creating a new alfresco dining/ terrace on the swimming pool roof. This is something that we have wanted to do for so long so I can’t wait for this to be started. A glass of Tanners wine or a Wye Valley Butty Bach on the terrace sounds bliss!

It goes without saying that your safety and the safety of the team are our number one priority and although a date for reopening has not yet been confirmed by the government, I just wanted to reassure you that every effort has been taken to ensure Holmer Park is ready for you to enjoy and that we are “Covid Secure”. As a member of UK Active we are very thankful for their hard work in publishing an extensive framework for the Leisure industry to reopen and the breakdown of the steps that we will be taking when we are able to open will be communicated to you soon.

Safety is and always has been at the core of what we do and you can be sure that will never change.

We miss you; we’re thinking about you and we can’t wait to see you again soon.

Thank you all, for being part of the Holmer Park family.

Steven
