Holmer's Headlines February 22

26 Feb 2022

Hello and welcome to this month’s edition of Holmer’s Headlines.

I wanted to start by offering our Holmer Park thoughts and prays to the Ukrainian people currently living in such a cruel and unnecessary situation. Some of the harrowing pictures have been heart wrenching and I very much support the mission of organisations like the British Red Cross, who, through their Ukraine Crisis appeal https://donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appeal is providing food, medicine and shelter to the Ukrainian people.

Next, you may be aware that we review the Orchard Café menu at this time of year and I am really excited with the changes we have made, being launched on Tuesday 1st March. Not only are we introducing new food options like our new "Veg Plot Ciabatta Melt" and "American Style Waffles with Fruit Compote and Yogurt" but we have also changed the way our menu is presented with a very stylish new menu holder. Working in partnership with Wardingtons Original we are also very excited to be able to offer their locally produced Ludlow Gin and also a very satisfying Triplecello Liqueur Cocktail. Why not come and see us on the 1st March and try one of our new dishes and drinks?

Moving on, thank you so much to all of you who have attended our events and talks. Our Alice talks about everything diet have been a great success and our Quiz was a another great night which myself and the team thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with you. Our final events of this quarter are 2 more Alice talks covering Diabetes on the 23rd March and blood pressure on the 27th April, our Temple S’party on the 31st March and Easter basket arranging with Denise at Lechlade Flower House on the 15th April. Posters will be displayed in club closer to the times on how to book for these events. We really do enjoy spending social time with you so if you have any ideas for our next set of events do let me know, I’d love to hear from you.

I just wanted to say thank you too, for your support with our new traffic calming measures. This was a clear indication to our neighbours that we are listening to their safety concerns. Since my last email I have noticed improvements to peoples consideration when navigating through Cleeve Orchard so again thank you very much for that.

This month we said goodbye to Fitness team member Katie and Food and Beverage Assistant Ryan who are moving on to pastures new with our thanks and very best wishes. That has given us the opening and real pleasure in being able to welcome back Harry to our Holmer Park team after a short time away. Many of you will know Harry from his time working in the Orchard Café but Harry now starts a new career with us in the Fitness Team. He has already completed his National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and will soon be starting the rest of his training in the gym.

Team member of the month this month is awarded to our very experienced Orchard Café team member Sian. Thank you for all you do Sian and we all appreciate your hard work and dedication.

Congratulations to Fitness Team member Paige who has been working through her gym qualification and recently delivered her first group exercise class. She had some lovely feedback from members who were there and I know she is working hard so she can become a regular fixture of the group fitness timetable.

Finally thank you very much for being part of the Holmer Park family and thank you for your support.

Kind regards
