Final update in preparation of our on opening Saturday

23 Jul 2020

Hello everyone

This is just a final update from us ready for our opening on Saturday. We’re really excited and cannot wait to welcome you to the club. You can find our detailed updates about reopening the Club, Spa and starting Classes on our news page https://www.holmerpark.co.uk/news/

When you arrive you will see the steps we are taking to keep you safe. To ensure you are fully prepared, you can view them here https://www.holmerpark.co.uk/keeping-you-safe/ prior to your visit.

In the morning please wait in your car rather than reception until our opening time and make way your way to the entrance from 7am keeping a safe distance. There is a hand sanitiser unit as you arrive. Please make sure you use this and we must ask strictly that swipe your membership card as this will help us support NHS Track and trace. You will receive a friendly welcome and an excited smile from our reception team, but it will be from behind a screen. A one way system will help you navigate the gym and to the pool hall so please do follow all signage that is in place.

Please arrive at the club gym and swim ready. We would appreciate it if you can avoid using the changing rooms wherever possible, but they will remain open, for example, for anyone who needs to shower after their swim or for those with disabilities or special needs. In line with government guidance, the changing rooms will have a reduced capacity, so please only bring belongings that are absolutely necessary. I have been asked by a few members if they can come with their costume on, enter via the pool hall door, take their clothing off and store it on poolside and have their swim. Then towel dry, get dressed and leave via the patio doors. That scenario is perfectly acceptable in our opinion but I must stress that every entry to the club must be made via reception to assist NHS Track and trace.

For those coffee lovers and foodies, The Orchard Café will be open from 8am- 8pm, serving a reduced hot food menu between 9am-5pm. With your support we know that this will only be a temporary measure and we hope to reinstate our usual opening hours very soon. All our tables have been, numbered spread out and the windows opened to assist with social distancing. We will be offering full table service (we will introduce an online order form if required) so all you need to do is take a seat and a member of the team will come and take your order. We’re delighted to say that we will be welcoming Hannah to our team, our new Orchard Café Team Leader. Hannah joins us from a local 4 star Hotel and will be overseeing the Orchard Café with Head Chef Ben. We are really excited to be working with her and I know she is looking forward to meeting you all. The team will be wearing PPE but don’t worry they will be as friendly as ever and are can’t wait to get the coffee machine fired up, making your coffee and delivering you cakes!

Our Spa has already opened and we have loved pampering so many of you. Feedback has been excellent and has really helped prepare the team to welcome you back to enjoy the rest of the club.

Finally some of you will be aware of resurfacing works of the Roman Road. Although we fully support this work we we’re desperately disappointed that this work has been planned to coincide with our reopening having being closed for over 4 months. We have worked with Balfour Beatty and they have reduced the time that the road is fully inaccessible to club members to just 2.5 hours on Thursday 30th July. Please see a breakdown from Balfour Beatty of how you should access the club during this this time:

  • Saturday 25th- Sunday 26th- The road will be fully open
  • Monday 27th - Tuesday 28th – Access to Cleeve Orchard will be via the A49 Starting Gate roundabout only
  • Wednesday 29th July-  Access to Cleeve Orchard will be via the A49 Starting Gate roundabout only
  • Thursday 30th July – Between 09.30 and 12.00 noon access to the club will be via our back entrance on Church Way. In all honesty this option is via a usually unused “track” but a member of staff will be on hand to assist you. After 12.00 noon access to Cleeve Orchard will be via the Aylestone Hill Roundabout side of the Roman Road.

During this time Road Closed signs will be in place but if you drive to the site entrance and explain that you are visiting Holmer Park the construction staff will allow you entry.

If these plans change we will provide an update our website and publish on our Social Media pages. Please check before visiting.

Holmer Park is a really special club and as I have said on many occasions myself and the team are so proud to be the people chosen to help you enjoy it. With your support we know we will bounce back from this incredibly tough time and we are so excited, some of us emotional but all of us are delighted to be getting our Holmer Park family back together.

Welcome home and see you soon.

Kind regards,

Steven.
