Luscious lashes: a Hereford Spa how-to guide

A three-step guide to mascara perfection

For as long as you’ve been wearing makeup, you’ve probably been applying mascara. It’s one of the basics and, as with most things, getting the basics right can really make a difference to the overall effect.

Here are the three steps to applying mascara:

1. Start the application by wriggling the mascara wand from side to side at the base of your eyelashes. This puts down a layer of mascara there which does the most work in making the lashes look thicker and longer.
2. Next, pull the wand forward and out of your lashes and, again, keep wriggling it from side to side as you do this. This wriggle motion will separate your lashes, coating them evenly and preventing clumping.
3. In the final step, an eyelash comb is your best friend. Draw the brush tool from root to tip, removing any clumps or areas where your lashes are sticking together. You can also use an old, clean mascara wand.

If you make any mistakes, you can wet a cotton bud with water / makeup remover for touch-up cleaning. The end result? Long, defined lashes with no unsightly clumping.
