Holmer's Headlines March 2020

27 Mar 2020

Well this is strange. For years I have sat looking out of my office window (at the bins), writing Holmers Headlines hoping for inspiration. Now I am sat at Mrs Chadwick’s dressing table (my make shift desk), surrounded by make-up, perfume and of course lots of lovely Temple Spa products. Very strange.

You will notice from my previous editions that I always sign off with “thank you for being part of the Holmer Park family”. When I write that, I mean it. We’re a group of people coming together to exercise, socialise and relax.

We have good days, we have bad days. Sometimes we have little squabbles. But we are a community. Whether we are Body Pump regulars or indeed huddle around a coffee table for a flat white, we are part of a club with great spirit. We demonstrate that in many ways; through the substantial amount we donate to charity, your support when we, at the club, get something wrong or simply asking about another club member if they have not been seen in club recently. We are a family.

Our vision is to make a positive contribution to your, our club members, lives. Even though our club is shut you can be sure that we are more determined than ever to make that happen! I know many of you will be concerned about some of our elderly members so you will be glad to know that as I now have quite a bit of time on my hands I will be starting what I like to call “Holmer Helps”, for those members in the “at risk age category”. I will start calling soon just to check in and see if there is anything that I can do to help whilst we get through this.

Also, to help keep you active and in shape I am happy to say that we have lots and lots planned! Working collectively with our friends from other clubs across the Mosaic Group we will be soon be publishing an online, virtual timetable. I am also delighted to say that working with our partners at Technogym and Les Mills we will have in excess of 90 virtual Les Mills classes for you to follow and also extra content via the mywellness app. Our Social media pages will be packed full of things to do too and I hope you have seen what Clare and Hazel have already posted on our Facebook page.

To get you started, here is the link for the online Les Mills classes. Enjoy!

For those of you that like to know what is happening with the club, I will keep you updated through this newsletter on a regular basis. At the moment I can say that we have a plan in place to ensure the club remains safe and ready to open at a moment’s notice. We have a very technical security system with remotely monitored CCTV as well as fire alarms and other safety measures.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to speak directly to those club members that work within the NHS. Thank you so, so much. I know I speak on behalf of all of us when I say we are so grateful for what you are doing.

Finally and I mean this more than ever - thank you for being part of the Holmer Park family.

Stay safe and very best wishes from all of us.

Steven.
